How the Mahjong Tile Set is Made Up

In the Mahjong tile game there are 144 tiles to play with. The aim of the game like in solitaire using playing cards, is to make up pairs to clear the board. The following are details of how this 144 tile set is made up:

Suits
There are 3 suits in the Mahjong tile set: circles, bamboo and thousands - each suit has numbers 1 to 9 and have 4 of each number. To make a pair with a suit tile you need to pick the same number and suit.

Winds
There are also 4 types of Wind tiles - North, South, West and East with 4 each of these. To make a matching pair - pick 2 of the same wind tiles.

Dragons
With 3 types of dragons - red, white and green - again there are 4 each of these. A pair of dragons will be 2 of the same color.

Seasons
There is 1 tile for each season - so to make a matching pair just choose any 2 of the season tiles.

Flowers
There are 4 flower tiles - plum, orchid, chrystanthemum and bamboo. Match any 2 of these to make a pair.

But first how to play Mahjongg online: Well it is basically the same as the traditional Chinese games with Mahjongg tiles arranged side by side and on top of each other to create towers. Your aim is to clear the tiles by matching pairs of tiles. The catch is that you can only match tiles that are NOT touching other tiles on both sides - so you can only find matching pairs of tile from the end lines of the arrangement of tiles. And, like solitaire you have to watch out for the order you clear the tiles, otherwise you can get stuck with no more pairs to match! The game i won when all the Mahjongg tiles are eliminated from the board.
Now, online the Mahjongg games work the same way, except you point and click on the tiles you want to pair up. If the tiles are inaccessible, you'll usually get a sound to alert you've made an error or the tiles won't light up. Also you normally get a time limit to clear the game.
